2026 edition

BaroqueSwing is a warm, local-oriented event with a great community atmosphere. As a member of the local scene myself, I really enjoy witnessing the steady growth of the Stuttgart community, and this event plays a fantastic role in that. Outdoor Chill & Dance Area: A standout feature compared to many other events was the outdoor chilling area, complete with a small outdoor dance floor and a bar right next to it. It created a super sweet, relaxed vibe where people could hang out, have a drink, and enjoy a casual dance outside. Exclusive Workshops: The instructor line-up and workshop organization were outstanding. Having Semion & Maria and especially Browley & Inga was a huge highlight. Browley & Inga don't teach workshops at many events, so having the opportunity to take classes and an intensive from them made BaroqueSwing extra special. Atmosphere & Local Impact: The vibe was extremely welcoming. Since many local dancers don't travel often to major festivals, this event serves as a wonderful bridge for them to learn from international pros and dance with outside guests. Organization: Everything ran completely on schedule without any planning or timing issues. The staff's friendliness set a positive tone for the entire event. Venue & Dance Floor: The indoor venue is decent and has air conditioning, though extreme summer heat (~40°C) made it quite warm inside especially during competitions. Also, the floor was very slippery, making suede shoes tricky—plastic soles are definitely recommended. Location & Logistics: The venue is located somewhat outside the main city with limited nearby amenities or public transport, so arriving by car or staying at a nearby hotel is the best choice. Despite the summer heat, BaroqueSwing is a sweet, well-organized, and immensely valuable event for our growing region.

2026 edition

As a disclaimer, it was my first event :) I think the organisation was very nice (on time workshops and competition… smooth marshalling even if it was my first comp). For me, the event had a very easy going vibe, still very focused on social interaction and a lovely group of Volunteers. Unfortunately it was held during a heat wave, so even if the main room had air conditioning, the venue was hot (honestly, I do not think anything more could have been done from the organisers to cope with 38 degrees). The main floor was crowded at peak hours, but another room was available for dancing , even if less used. The temperature prevented a full use of the outdoor dancing and chill area, but I found it a good idea. The floor was quite slippery in the main room. The venue is in a residential area, not super attractive, but still easily reachable by public transport (I travelled by train and bus from munich and stayed in a hotel at 12 minutes walking distance). Few restaurant options are available at 10 minutes walking. I really enjoyed the event, still very focused on social dancing with one day of competition starting at 4pm and finishing by 11pm. I would recommend it for someone like me, at their first event, that enjoys dancing with newcomers, novice and intermediate dancers! The event is English speaking but the vast majority of attendees are German, so it might feel not so inclusive if you do not speak German. Everyone was lovely and still tried their best to speak English
