2026 edition

It's too warm inside, which makes is very uncomfortable. They provide a bus for traveling between the event venue and the hotel, but the timing schedule of the bus and the competition schedule doesn't match. So, either you have to be at the event almost 1.5 hours before oresle you need to have a car to be able to manage your timing which is not practical. This makes it harder to have the comfort you can expect at a wsdc event. And the warmer temperature makes it even harder.

2025 edition

We reported a sexual harassment incident and the response was very bad. Mark just didn't seem to want to do anything about it without seeing it himself. He basically said there's nothing he can do - and this offender has been known to be problematic before. I refuse to attend his events for this reason. Very few options for lodging or food by the event, getting there is inconvenient. The venue is hot, but that's most dance venues/events around this time.

2026 edition

It was my first time at D-Town Swing, and I honestly had very mixed feelings. On one hand, there were so many things I loved. The workshops were great, the teachers were amazing, and I really liked the competition divisions. You can clearly feel how much work and care went into the event. But unfortunately, the heat and ventilation situation really affected the whole experience. I know the weather was hot, but from what I understood, this venue gets very hot in general, so it feels like this is something that needs a proper solution. For almost 48 hours, I felt like I could barely breathe in the venue. In the evening, the main hall became almost impossible to dance in. I also didn’t really understand why during socials the doors were closed, because the air was just circulating inside and the room turned into a sauna. On top of that, the floor was very slippery, which made dancing even more difficult. Because of this, many people moved to the bar area. But that space was far too small for social dancing at an event of this size. It was crowded, and for regular social dancers there was barely any room. It felt strange and sad that the actual social dancing ended up happening in such a tiny space. I’m really sorry to write this, because the event itself has so much potential and many beautiful parts. But unless the ventilation, heat, and floor situation are improved, I’m not sure I would come back. For me, social dancing is a huge part of the event, and this time it was simply too hard to enjoy it.

2026 edition

D-town swing! I had a blast. It was HOT and humid. Bring shorts. Apparently its been getting worse but there are no obvious remedies to this. The venue has advantages but climate management is not one of them. It would be so much better if the venue could repair and operate their extractor fans in the evenings; the embodied heat and moisture trapped in the main dancefloor was crazy, even once the evening air had cooled. Not something that the organisers can directly impact but that is my wish. The schedule is very solid; including short breaks between workshops and efficient comps means things run on time. The crowd is mostly local and very friendly.

Very established and longrunning Event with good Organisation Workshops and Party. Only downside is the venue with no ac in summer
