15 years FOWCS this year, really loved it! Main ballroom has a slippery floor, get's a little less slippery with more people, but I love to dance on it, it is the floor from Olivier Massart. Good temperature, maybe a bit warm but not more than other events in my opinion, it didn't bother me. Great routines and shows, the 15min pro show was so so good! Really like the way of setting up with intensives on Wednesday and Tuesday, and from Friday untill Sunday workshops, so there is always something for everybody, I did intensives and party pass after and it's the best combination for me. Competitions prelims start on friday afternoon, so if you arrive only on friday, it's maybe less convenient because you haven't had a party before to warm up, but therefore it's spreads a bit better in the schedule with the spotlight finals for every division on Saturday. Shopping mall with a lot of Restaurants and a big Auchan supermarket in a 5-10min walk, so a lot of options for dinner. I do speak French, so can't say anything about the ratio French/English speaking at the event. Music was perfect, very good DJ's! Waiting for the Spotify lists! To recommend to go to French Open!

The event is quite large, and the venue can get very warm due to the time of year it takes place. There are many competitions, and the social dancing starts late, making it ideal for competitors and those who enjoy high-level performances. However, it may not be the best choice for purely social dancers. The organization is excellent, and the dance floor is very solid. The venue is also conveniently located -not too far from the city center if you take the metro - so it’s a good option if you plan to do some sightseeing. That said, there aren’t many places to eat nearby, and you’ll need to walk about 10/15 minutes to reach the nearest shopping mall.

French Open is absolutely amazing for social dancing — probably the best socials i have been to. The level on the dancefloor is pretty high as well, which makes competitions interesting, and socials just great. The floor is slippery, so sneakers worked way better for me personally than suede sandals. Temperature-wise very well conditioned, location is nice and easy to reach.

It's a big event. Very nice shows as well as routines. The level of competitions are equally very high. If you are an experienced dancer and want more challenges and good dances then definitely recommend it.

it was my first French event and I absoutely loved it! an incredible social dancing, a very impressive level of competitions, amazing routines! I had a Smart Pass (Focus Workshops + Party Pass), highly recommend this combo. classes were great, the pros tried to stick to a 50/50 French/English ratio, but I guess most French jokes are just untranslatable... :') I lived in both the Novotel Suites (Wed-Fri) and the event hotel (Fri-Sun), each option has pros and cons, both are quite comfortable.
