Neverland felt magical to me. The people, the venue, and Amsterdam all came together to create a truly special experience. Even though we were hit by an intense heat wave and the temperatures were incredibly high, I have to admit that dancing while a huge thunderstorm with spectacular lightning raged outside was quite an unforgettable experience. There was plenty of time for social dancing, with only a few additional competitions (Strictly Novice, Open, and the Switch Jack & Jill, which was especially fun to watch). We got some free ice creams during the Sunday workshops, which was a very nice touch. The meet and greet with prosecco was also a lovely moment. One of my favorite things was the very big dance hall. It gave everyone enough space to dance freely without constantly bumping into other couples. The size of the floor also made the pro shows particularly impressive - everyone had a great view, and the performing couples danced across a huge, open space, which made the performances especially striking.

I really liked the DJs, the floor (slidy enough) with enough space for dancing, and the people. I've never been in this part of Europe so I met many new people and had amazing dances, but also saw some old good friends! 🐾💕 Smaller size of the event made it cozier and gave me oportunity to dance with almost every leader I saw there! Unfortunately this year the weather wasn't cooperating, and it was incredibly hot and humid. The venue wasn't built or adapt for hot days. Still the people and the music made it as a very nice memory! 🙌🏻 I think it would be strategically great to organize this event in the middle season when it's not too hot, and also considering that this weekend was overlapping with another 2 events many people are going to! So I think changing the dates would be good for future editions. ^•^

Neverland Swing is a nice event for first time dancers to ease into international events. Unfortunately for this edition there was an unprecedented heatwave and no airco in the location, which made it impossible to dance comfortably on Friday and Saturday. Overall the vibe of the event was pretty positive, people seemed to have a good time despite the heat. The only thing that really bothered me was that the Advanced finals happened ahead of schedule but since this was a wish of the competitors, there's not a lot the organiser could do. The location was spacious enough for the amount of people, at least during the parties, with enough space for performances, and the floor was just right for me. It did feel as if there were quite a bit of extra followers but maybe the leaders were still chilling at the hours I was there. The handmade cake on Saturday was a cute personal touch. And I loved the cooperation with Your Dance Buddy, it gave some very nice extra touches.

As a dancer from The Netherlands and because Neverland is one of only two Dutch WSDC events, I really want to sing its praises, but I can't... First the positives: > The community. Tbh, this is the only thing that encourages me to come to this event. The Dutch community is a friendly and warm bunch who will cheer you on > Venue this year in Amsterdam and very close to a metro station. A few F&B options nearby, albeit limited. > Floor was great. Not too sticky, not too slippery The negatives: > Temperature management. Yes, there was a heatwave and no the weather gods are unfortunately not on speed dial. However, the heatwave was predicted at least 2 weeks before the event already. Organizers should have prepared more than just three big fans and a couple of small ones for the entire venue (which was large, mind!). It was quite literally a sauna. It was much MUCH warmer inside than it was outside due to bad circulation. It was impossible to social dance more than 2 songs without feeling dizzy and sweating buckets. > General organization. Competition schedule was unavailable until 30 minutes before the first J/J competition. Asking the organizer and volunteers did not help as they did not know the time or order of the competition (seriously??). Marshaling took forever and comps generally didn't run on time. Information on registration and comp desk opening hours was inconsistent. Organizer was unable to provide clear answers to simple questions. The feedback may be brutal, but organizers cannot improve without honest feedback.

I was said ahead, that the venue was changed to AMS from Almere due to some unspecified complaints. The CanDance Studios are an old prooduction or storage facility, plain stone, very limited ventilation possibilities despite the imdustrial-sized blowers. Not sure if this is a loctiom try-out, or meant tomstay there. With temperatures outside beyond 25celsius, inside quite higher, unopenable roff windows, limited doors… I will look up next year‘s location beforee booking. Big plus, the Dutch are a friemdly bunch trying to make people feels home. Staff was overall very great.
