Novice Guide2026 edition
Lived out my Viking dreams at the Norwegian Open ⚔️ Ida and her team crafted a utopian event like no other. The amount of care and thought they put into this was evident in every aspect of this event, down to the smallest details 🥹 I could go on and on but a few highlights: 🌿 Location Spacious ballroom, excellent floor, lots of space to dance, couches to relax and mingle, HAVE YOU SEEN THE LIGHT SET UP??, convenient public transport options (let's not talk about the train strike...), great restaurants and cafes close to the hotel, gorgeous Lake Mjøsa, comfortable hotel rooms 🌿 Theme The Viking theme (that music omg) was so powerful. Loved the pro shows where the pros danced in Viking inspired clothing and to Norwegian songs!! 🌿 Vibe The welcoming and inclusive energy was infectious and like no other. Thank you lovely Norwegian Westies who so openly shared conversations and a coffee with me 🥹 The couches outside the ballroom made it really really easy to get to know new Westies and to catch up with old friends 🌿 General event organization It was literally perfect. Communication pre and during event, amazing pros with great workshops, enjoyable music during socials and comps, amazing photographers, smooth comps, excellent role balance, the best merch E-V-E-R, great schedule that was not too packed (except for that 945 class on Sunday morning :P), super friendly and approachable event staff, charismatic MCs. Staff handled hiccups that were out of their control seamlessly 🌿 The small stuff that makes the big stuff even better Puzzles, board games, scrapbook, breakfast club pins, mirror in the merch area This event is a core WCS memory for me and I cannot wait to be back next year. Thank you for such a wonderful experience

Ida put so much heart into Norwegian Open, and it really shows! The venue is amazing - from the quality of the floor and the lighting during the competitions and pro show, to the chill-out area and the spacious dance floor. The organisation was perfect, with no hiccups at all. And the town itself is super cute, right next to a huge lake, which makes the whole experience even nicer. The hotel is very convenient, and the breakfast has so many options! Even the elevators turned out to be enough once participants realized there are actually two sets on each floor and stopped using just one pair of them ;) The only downside was the train strike, but obviously that was completely out of the organisers hands. Overall it was an amazing event :)

Very Cozy and nice event. I love this event as people are very friendly and have a Norwegian vibe. Have various flooding options as well near the venue (10-15mins walk) which makes it more convenient. Excellent lighting and sound system. Adds to the vibe of the event. Definitely would recommend it.

It was a trial event, never seen such a well organised event. Thought about every detail. Marketing, merch, visuals, lighting, good workshops (could be a few more), various teachers, floor, registration smoothly, everything. I would definitely recommend it!
