2026 edition

First, I like Hamburg. So an event ther, esüecially a wsdc trial - booked before i really new the schedule (thought it was early posted). Location,,, Hamburg, near the coast, is a tad cooler. So while the overall temperature was fien for danceing. venring the rooms between actual 'shops was... windy. coll stromg draft. Warehouse stufios is the topmost stories uf the block, too. Not much blockling a gale. A nulit-room dance school, the biggest of them also used for the competition. A minor con here... not much chance to watch other dancers, the long side where floor-to-the-wall, for workshops and party, nice, with room next to the floor. Illikes that the Orga staff obviously looked hwo other do events, and tried to keep the good parts. And succeeded IMHO. If this gets out of trial to "regular" status, i'll come again. Just remember, the venue is a dance school, not a hotel/convention center type. And not air-con (wasn't needed at all though). Only issue I heard multiple times, the pre-party was not clearly enough marked as "extra cost".

2026 edition

The first edition of Swing Creation Hamburg was very enjoyable. It is a nice cozy venue with a lot of love for details adding to a harbor look. For example, a wall in the entry area was decorated with a net where an envelope for each participant was hanging, to write personal messages for others. The main ballroom had a fitting size for the amount of participants. The heats in the competition had a fitting amount of competitors, so that there was plenty of space for dancing. The room for Level 4 workshops (15+ Novice points) can get a bit crowdy though. The weather over the weekend was mainly cloudy and from time to time a bit of rain cooled down the outside. Therefore also the ballroom during the social was very well air conditioned due to two big Windows on opposite sides of the dancefloor. When not dancing and standing in the breeze it can get pretty cold, but other than that the temperature was perfect (for me personally) Due to its location in the Speicherstadt, there are plenty of activities, restaurants and accomodations around the venue. The EDs and their whole team put a lot of effort into making it a nice experience for everyone, so definitely a recommendation to go there.

A wonderful venue in Hamburg’s HafenCity, excellent competition music, a new event organised with great care and attention to detail, featuring lots of lovely touches (e.g. the mascot Fiete)
