I just attended the very first edition of Westie Harbor in Gothenburg, Sweden, and I am genuinely blown away! Even though this was a trial / first-time event, it certainly did not feel like one. Everything ran so smoothly and completely on schedule. Huge kudos to the event directors, organizers, and the super positive volunteer crew. They anticipated needs before issues arose, acted remarkably fast, provided clear information, and ensured everyone had an amazing time! Here is why this event was such a hit: Unmatched Venue & Amenities: Honestly, this might be the best venue I’ve ever seen. The hotel, floor quality, sound system, and acoustics were top-tier. Temperature control was spot on—it never felt uncomfortably hot while dancing. Every detail was well thought out, from water stations to late-night snacks. Huge Dance Floor & Social Focus: The dance floor was exceptionally spacious with no overcrowding. With a light competition schedule (no strictlys, just standard Jack & Jills), the spotlight stayed firmly on pure social dancing! Dancer Wellness First: Dedicating a space in the main ballroom with yoga mats and foam rollers so dancers could stretch or roll out was an absolute genius move. Incredible Vibe & Global Diversity: Beginners, advanced dancers, All-Stars, and Champions were all dancing together without ego barriers. Bringing in dancers from various countries (France, Portugal, etc.) created a wonderful international mix. Music & Community: DJs maintained a solid balance with creative experimental tracks. The Swedish community is incredibly welcoming, and the location is ideal: a 20-minute waterfront walk or a 10-minute tram ride to Gothenburg center. Thank you to the crew and community for making the first Westie Harbor so flawless. I am already counting down to next year!

I attended the very first edition of Westie Harbor in Gothenburg, Sweden, and what a great event it was! Everything ran so smoothly and completely on schedule. Huge kudos to the event directors, organizers, and the volunteer crew. It never felt like a first-edition event at all. The venue alone was great. The hotel, dance floor, sound system, acoustics, and lighting were all really good, and the temperature was just right. Every little detail seemed to have been thought through, from the water stations to the late-night snacks and board games. Having a dedicated space in the main ballroom with yoga mats and foam rollers, where dancers could stretch and roll out whenever they needed, is such a simple idea but such a great touch. There was plenty of space and none of that usual overcrowding, which made social dancing genuinely enjoyable. With a light competition schedule (no stricklies), parties started not too late and the schedule overall not overwhelming. And the vibe was just great. Beginners, advanced dancers, All-Stars, and Champions were all dancing together. The Swedish community was incredibly welcoming, and the DJs did a great job balancing familiar social-dance tracks with some creative and experimental choices. The location was another bonus—just a 20-minute walk along the waterfront or a 10-minute tram ride into central Gothenburg. Plus the city is really beautiful. I’m already looking forward to being back next year! ❤️

A trial event that felt like an already established one! Fun theme, good workshops, beautiful hotel and venue and just a lovely atmosphere 👌 Ish a 10 minute walk to a mall with everything you need. All the comps ran smoothly and efficiently. And the EDs are just the sweetest and you can really tell they put their hearts and soul into the event🫶 Highly recommended!😻

Westie Harbor was a great event. Great venue with fantastic sound, lighting, floor, temperature. A relaxation / wellness corner with beanbags, yoga mats and foam rollers. Everything ran to time, was very organised. The only thing it was missing was a kettle in the hotel room for tea 🫖. You can pay for early check-in to the hotel at 11am for about 15EUR, which was good for me as I had an early flight, and otherwise check-in was 4pm. I did not have a fridge in my hotel room because of this, but according to the hotel staff you can request one. The hotel is nearby useful shops, and you can rent a bike or scooter just outside the venue whcih I would recommend to get a great view of the city! I would love to come back to Westie Harbor next year! 😻
