It was such a cool trial edition and overall a very enjoyable event. I had some amazing social dances throughout the weekend, and I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the community. The Wolffs's workshops was amazing as always. Unfortunately, I couldn’t attend the workshops on Sunday, so I can’t really give feedback on those. The schedule was well thought out and the organization worked quite smoothly overall. There were some delays during the competitions, but nothing major enough to negatively affect my experience of the event. I also really appreciated all the little details and goodies for the participants. Such a nice touch and made the event feel even more special. The collaboration with Your Dance Body and the Team Challenge was another highlight for me. As always, it added a really fun and engaging element to the weekend. For a trial edition, I think it was a really successful event with a great atmosphere, good social dancing and lots of thoughtful little details. I’d definitely be happy to come back for another edition!

The Romanian community certainly brought a lot of joy to WestieJoy and is really inspiring! The L5 workshops were really great (special shout out to the Wolffs and Ludo and Steffi!), with a good emphasis on technique-related topics. Class size was appropriate but the room was a bit warm. They took temperature management seriously, which was very much appreciated considering it was 38 degrees outside. Ballroom had AC and really powerful fans. It was quite humid, but nothing serious. Venue is really attractive as it is located close to public transport connecting to airport and city center. Personally thought the floor was fine, particularly with suede soles. A little expensive, but there are AirBnB options closeby. The "side" events (Therme visit, city tour, Romanian folk dance) are really cool aspects of this event! Points for improvement: - Organization and communication: this was lacking in a few areas both before and during the event itself that make things feel a bit chaotic. There were also issues with marshalling, which made comps quite chaotic as well. - Role balance during parties was off. Visibly a lot of followers who were waiting at the sides waiting to dance, so felt a bit like a leader-hunt. - The DJ sets (except for the Sunday set -- which was quite brilliant and huge shoutout to Nevena's closing set!) could really be improved. Saturday night's music was primarily hard-hitting, hip-hop heavy for hours from 10 pm until 4am. - Felt like the MC was really trying to rush the competition and awards ceremony along. Understandable as we all want to social dance, but there was some tension in the air

Solid first year for an event. The website was super informative and clear. I loved the large number of fans and duhumidifiers in the ballroom. Lots of grocery stores and restaurants within walking distance. The hotel was expensive so we used Airbnb. The music early Sunday night was boring. They played a lot of latin songs and a lot of them sounded the same as the previous song. Other than that, the DJing was great.

Westie Joy is true to it's name, Joyful ☀️ I could feel the care and love put into the event by the organizers. You see the Bucharest Westies promoting the event with their T-shirts months in advance, which only works because they bring such good vibes ✨️ There were some issues with the scheduling and announcements that are easy to improve for next year, but made the weekend feel a little chaotic. The floor was a bit sticky, which they fixed with baby powder. Despite the heat outside (38°🥵), the rooms were only a little warm. I was a bit disappointed to see very few people dancing in the 2nd room. I LOVED that there was a Switch competition, to me, this brings out a level of inclusivity, acceptance and joy in a community. The teachers were so lovely, I especially loved Stefanie and Ludo's choreo class on Sunday. Dj'ing here was a great experience, Tana is an amazing head DJ and held a Q&A that was really connecting and helpful. Loved the locals sets on Sunday evening too!
